One of the most significant contributions to our school is the SCRIP program.
What is SCRIP?
Scrip is a certificate you can use instead of cash/checks/credit at participating stores. Each store issues its own Scrip, which is identical to Gift Cards or paper Gift Certificates. Scrip can be used for your everyday purchases like groceries, gas, and dry cleaning, and also makes a great gift.
How does Dubuque Montessori School earn money with Scrip?
Each vendor sells the school Scrip at a discount. For example, Montessori buys $100 worth of HyVee gift cards for $97 (3% discount). You buy the cards for face value at $100. The $3 is profit for Dubuque Montessori School. The important thing to remember is that buying Scrip costs you nothing extra! You earn money for our school without buying anything you wouldn?t buy anyway. Using Scrip enables our school to earn money without excessive fundraising. If each family purchases about $400 of Scrip every month, our school will make about $9,000 in one year, which will be used to keep the price of tuition down and our classroom materials up to date.
How do you get SCRIP?
About every two weeks, you will receive an email reminder. When you order via email, you will then send your check to school on the next school day. Your Scrip will come home in your child's mailbag the Wednesday following the order date, or on Thursday if your child is in the 2-day class. To make this process even easier, you can set up a standing order so the same amount of specified Scrip is ordered for you either every order date or every other order date.
If you have any questions or would like to order, but do not have internet access, please contact your Scrip coordinator.
