Our Mission Statement

Dubuque Montessori School, a parent-run, not-for-profit 501(c)3 Corporation, brings together children of all social, economic and cultural backgrounds in an atmosphere that encourages children to develop to their fullest potential, using proven, child-directed Montessori methods and materials.

Dubuque Montessori School

Since 1968 Dubuque Montessori School has provided thousands of children with the learning tools needed to build a solid foundation for future growth, development and success. DMS is a parent-run, non-profit organization composed of parents of children attending Dubuque Montessori School. Parents elect their own representatives to the board of directors, which in conjunction with the Montessori trained administrator and teaching staff and the experienced assistants, make important decisions regarding the school.

Board Meetings are held monthly and are open to all. Time, date and place of up-coming meetings are posted in the monthly newsletter and are typically held the third Monday of the month, 6:45 PM at the school.

Dubuque Montessori School's Mission

Every child carries an unseen person within, the person he will become. In order to develop the physical, intellectual, and spiritual powers of this person to the fullest potential, he must have freedom--freedom to exercise skills and talents through order and self-discipline in a prepared environment.

The mission of Dubuque Montessori School is to provide a safe and stimulating environment, which cultivates a desire to learn.
